Michael Dando
Mike Dando is a journalism educator and student publications adviser working in the Metro East area of Saint Louis. A graduate of Greenville College's School of Education and Washington University's Master of Arts in Education program, Mike has spent nearly a decade working in public schools building practical strategies to incorporate pop culture, music, and film into the classroom. Over the past several years, Mike has worked to build an on campus secondary writing lab, to construct writing and journalism curriculum, and to develop media literacy programs, most recently helping to establish a program at Washington University in Saint Louis.
When not in the publication office, Mike can be found on the ultimate frisbee field, at a concert, serving as head writer for B-Side Music, an online music, film, and culture magazine or as a contributor for Geek Speak Weekly, a website devoted to gaming, comics, film, books, and pop culture.
Most recently, Mike has taken on a position teaching advanced composition for teachers at the collegiate level. On Suite101, Mike writes for education, film, and music.
